What Innova say: A fast long-range distance driver with great stability. Expect consistent and accurate flights from this disc. The Ape is great for powerful backhand and sidearm players.
The Ape can handle the raw, primal power of disc golfs biggest arms. Extremely fast and stable, the Ape is a "must have" distance driver for windy conditions and sharp doglegs. Sidearm drivers will learn the Ape is more than capable of standing up to even the most intense torque. The Ape is an outstanding choice for backhand or sidearm throws as well as a variety of niche flex shots. With less high speed turn than a Boss, the Ape is not recommended for players who throw less than 300ft...
Unless that is, you choose the Blizzard Ape, in a very light weight - see opposite.
Innova Ape (Champion)
Ah, the Ape. Some will find the Champion version of this disc quite challenging to throw. (Blizzard Champion Ape is described below.) It is a long range driver with a high speed rating. Only available in the 173-175 weight range it caters to players that throw with a lot of arm speed. It has a massive almost right angle skip if thrown right and can get you out of all kinds of trouble.
For most mortal players, this is "too much disc" unless you are facing a strong headwind, where your disc mustn't turn over, and must fade left.
In lightweight Blizzard plastic, the disc loses a lot of it's wind-fighting power, but makes up for it, being much more easily accelerated to flying speed by lesser arms. Players with less than 90 metres of power may well find this to be a utility disc with it's wildy overstabnle finish, and potentailly massive skips, far to the left of where it touches down.
